The Fichtenhof is the ideal starting point for many leisure activities. You can hike to your heart’s content, cycle or simply enjoy the pleasant mountain air.
Located in the heart of the Trudner Horn Nature Park, nature lovers will find plenty to enjoy. Covering an area of 6,660 hectares, it features beautiful larch meadows, raised bogs with rare plants, forests, ponds, clearings and rock faces, stretching from the valley floor of the Etsch Valley (224 m) up to the Weißhorn (2,317 m). This area has been protected since 1981. Incidentally, nearby you will also find the newly designated UNESCO World Heritage Site Bletterbach Gorge.
Various forest roads and paths invite you to choose a new hiking destination every day, from the “Hornalm” to the “Heiligen See”, the “Königswiese” or the “Sauchsattel”. Particularly well known is the Dürer Trail leading to Segonzano.
Nature Park Visitor Centre and Information Points
In addition to the existing Nature Park Visitor Centre in Truden, an information point of the Trudner Horn Nature Park was opened in 2014 in Gfrill (municipality of Salurn). Located right next to the car park, visitors will find key information about the history of Gfrill, interesting facts about water and hiking suggestions in the southern part of the Trudner Horn Nature Park. Special attention is also given to the wetlands, birdlife and amphibians of the park.
